Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, raided the Abuja home of a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Usman Yusuf, arresting him.
The armed EFCC operatives, it was learnt, arrested Yusuf, who is professor of haematology-oncology and bone marrow transplantation, in his Abuja residence in the presence of his wife and children at about 4:46pm on Wednesday over an undisclosed offence.
After his arrest by the EFCC operatives, he was said to have been driven to an unknown location.
The operatives were said to have declined to disclose reason for his arrest, but sources said it might not be unconnected with his activities as the NHIS boss.
Recall that Yusuf was sacked in 2019 by the former President Muhammadu Buhari seven months after he was recommended for dismissal by a fact-finding panel set up by the Federal Ministry of Health over alleged mismanagement of N919m.
EFCC is yet to make any official statement on the arrest of the former NHIS boss.
