By Ben Ogbemudia, Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State has suffered another major setback as its former Publicity Secretary, a one time House of Assembly aspirant and party leader in Egor LGA, Hon. Nosa Adams, on Saturday, collapsed the entire PDP structure in the local government into the opposition All Progressives Congress fold.

Adams led the PDP Executives of the entire Egor Local Government Area from Ward 1 to Ward 10 to defect to the APC and threw their weight behind the governorship aspiration of Senator Monday Okphebholo.

Speaking in Benin City during the event, Hon Nosa said they left the PDP because of the imposition of a stranger on the party and many other injustices going on within its fold in the state.

He assured the APC candidate of their full support in delivering Egor to the APC in the September 2024 gubernatorial elections.

Hon Nosa Adams said, “In the last election, we won Egor and defeated our opponent that time with over 18,000 votes. This time around, we are joining APC and we will make the difference. Senator Monday Okphebholo and Hon Dennis Okphebholo will win Egor LGA with at least, 20,000 votes.

“From tomorrow, we will draw our itinerary, we will join our brothers who we met in the APC and we will start work to do proper integration and we will move from ward to ward”, he said.

Receiving the defectors, the APC leader in the State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole thanked them for joining the APC, noting that they were merely returning home as they were part of the founding members of the APC and had only gone on sabbaticals in the other party. He assured them of equal treatment and urged them to bring in their best in ensuring victory for the APC in the forthcoming election.

On his part, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okphebholo thanked the defectors for believing in his aspiration and ability to rescue Edo state from the inglorious years of PDP misrule. He assured them that he will repay their confidence reposed in him back by ensuring rapid development across the entire state.

Senator Okphebholo said his government will ensure that the persistent flooding ravaging Egor communities is given urgent attention and addressed holistically and also assured them of fixing their roads and ensuring the communities are opened up to the main City capital.

He said, “I want to thank you the confidence you have reposed in me today by coming to join our campaign team and ensuring the fulfillment of this aspiration. The only way I can pay you back for this trust is to ensure that I bring development to Egor community. Egor plays a very special and unique role in this state and it is very unfortunate that this present government neglected them for the past years”.

“As governor, I will address that and ensure that we find solutions to the flooding issues in Egor, and build quality roads that will open up and link the communities. This is the only way I can pay you back for the trust and confidence reposed in me”.

On his part, the APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe thanked them for joining the APC and assured them that the party regard everyone as equal irrespective of when you join. He urged them to kick off their ward integration process immediately, mobilize for the APC, and replicate in the governorship election, the same electoral feat they achieved in the last election
