The Director-General, Special Services Directorate, Government House Kano, AVM Ibrahim Umaru (rtd), has called on philanthropists and well-to-do individuals in the society to contribute their quota in creating job opportunities for the teaming jobless youths roaming the streets to reduce to barest minimum the insecurity bedeviling many communities.
This was contained in a statement signed by Kano Government House Assistant Information Officer, Malam Sani Surajo and made available to newsmen.
The statement said AVM Ibrahim Umaru (rtd) made the call on Wednesday when he received the representatives of the people of Madigawa quarters in Dala Local Government Area who paid him a thank you visit in his office.
He said that it is only when job opportunities are created for the teaming youths with adequate training on skills and also engaged in legitimate earnings that the society will be free from persistent insecurity and other threats inimical to peace and stability in many quarters.
He said, “I implore you to set up youth empowerment committees in your localities and with the support of those who have the means, you can train many in multiple numbers of skills and empower many to engage in various trades for self-reliance.
“You need to also ensure the continuity and prudence in the management of what you have initiated so as to achieve sustainability and additional support from the wealthy individuals in your domain.”
AVM Umaru assured them of his commitment to forward some of the requests of the people of Madigawa in the areas of street lights, refuse evacuation and provision of more security gates, to the state government for its intervention.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Alhaji Balarabe Jibrin, a former Deputy Clerk of Kano State House of Assembly, said they were at the Director-General’s office to appreciate his contributions to the progress of Madigawa, Dala Local Government and the state as a whole.
Alhaji Balarabe applauded the DG’s contributions to the security architecture of the state, pledging continuous prayers by people of Madigawa to the Director General and Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf for peace and development of the state.
