From Seyi Tayese, Yenagoa
Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, has described death as an inevitable end experienced by every mortal, urging humankind to be mindful of what they do as they would be held accountable for their deeds

Dr. Akpe stated this on Thursday while speaking at a service of songs held in honour of the late Mrs. Dikemefa Felicia Benjamin, daughter of High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, at the zonal headquarters of Christ Embassy Church, South-South Zone 1, Yenagoa.
The Deputy Governor, who referred to Hebrews 9:27, said no one, whether rich or poor, young or old, is exempted from the appointment of death, and called on the living to examine their lives and their deeds while it is not yet time for them to die.
He said the tributes and testimonies at the service showed that the deceased played a significant role in the Church while she lived, and encouraged the bereaved family to take solace in the impactful life she lived.
The Deputy Governor appreciated everyone who came to identify with and stand by Elder Fidelis Agbiki, who is the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial Candidate for Bayelsa West, his wife and children and the entire family at their trying moment.
Earlier in her exhortation, the wife of the Zonal Pastor and Zonal Head of Operations, Pastor Julian Obode, reflected on the transient nature of human life, saying “the time we spend on earth is really short compared to our eternity.”
Taking her message from First Corinthians Chapter 15, Verses 50-58, Pastor Obode tasked Christians to reflect on their present and think of the future ahead, as they would all individually answer to God at the appointed time.
She said precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints, stressing that the late Mrs. Benjamin had been freed from the sorrows, struggles and pains of this world to a place of glory and rest, and that those alive in Christ should not sorrow like those who have no hope.
The late Mrs. Dikemefa Felicia Benjamin, who died after a brief illness in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on the 14th of September 2026, was aged 48 years.
Some notable personalities at the service included the member representing Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency, Hon. Marie Ebikake; State House of Assembly members, local government chairmen, the State APC Chairman, Chief Warman Ogoriba, special and technical advisers and other top government functionaries, traditional rulers and clergymen from various denominations.
