The management of Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant (DCPI), has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with host communities and key stakeholders as part of efforts to promote sustainable development and shared prosperity across Yewa-Awori land and beyond.

The Plant Director, Ayyagari Subbaraidu, made this known on Friday, April 17, 2026 while receiving a delegation of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP), led by its National President, Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, during a courtesy visit to the cement plant located in Ibese, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Mr. Subbaraidu acknowledged the crucial role of the media in fostering public understanding, promoting development-focused discourse, and sustaining trust between corporate organisations and their host communities.

According to him, responsible journalism remains an essential component in building transparency, enhancing communication, and supporting inclusive growth.

He emphasized that Dangote Cement is committed to maintaining cordial relationships with stakeholders, particularly host communities, noting that the company’s growth is intrinsically tied to the development and well-being of the people within its operational environment.

“It is also our responsibility at Dangote Cement to support the community and grow together. As the community grows, the plant will also grow”, the Plant Director stated.

Mr. Subbaraidu further expressed optimism that media professionals would continue to serve as willing partners in progress by supporting initiatives that promote innovation, economic growth, and social advancement in the region.

The Plant Director was accompanied by key members of the management team, including the Head of Social Performance, Mr. Ademola Ojolowo; the General Manager, Human Asset Management and Administration, Mr. Aina Olugbenga; the Human Resources Manager, Mr. Ladi Oloyede; and Mr. Francis Awowole-Browne of the Branding and Communications Department at the Head Office.

In his address, the National President of LOYAMP, Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, reaffirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate closely with the management of Dangote Group, particularly in projecting the company’s achievements and highlighting its impact on community development.

He noted that the League is not a union but a professional association made up of seasoned media practitioners, drawn from the five local government areas of Ogun West.

He added that the body remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting balanced reporting, constructive engagement, and development-driven journalism that strengthens mutual understanding between corporate organisations and their host communities.

“On behalf of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP), I am deeply honoured to stand before you as we pay this important courtesy visit to the management of this great organization here in Ibese-Yewa, Ogun State,” he said.

Abu-Satar continued, “First and foremost, we express our sincere appreciation to the management of Dangote Cement Plc for granting us this opportunity to interact, engage, and strengthen ties with one of the most prominent industrial establishments not only in Ogun State but also in Nigeria and across Africa.

“Your Ibese Plant stands as a symbol of industrial excellence, economic empowerment, and community development. It has significantly contributed to job creation, infrastructural growth, and the socio-economic advancement of Yewa-Awori land and beyond.

“We acknowledge and commend your continuous commitment to corporate social responsibility, which has positively impacted host communities.

“As media practitioners, drawn from the five local government areas of Ogun West, LOYAMP serves as a bridge between the people and institutions like Dangote. Our role is not only to inform but also to educate, promote development, and foster mutual understanding between corporate organisations and the communities they serve.”

“We are committed to promoting development and fostering mutual understanding through balanced reporting,” he added.

Elhadj Hamed commended Dangote Group for its significant contributions to job creation, infrastructural development, and socio-economic advancement across host communities, noting that the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives have remained consistent and impactful.

According to him, LOYAMP will continue to serve as a bridge between the people and institutions, ensuring that credible information about developmental efforts is effectively communicated to the public.

He described the visit as not merely ceremonial but strategic.

“It is aimed at building a stronger partnership between LOYAMP and Dangote Cement Plc, particularly in the areas of information dissemination, public engagement, and the projection of the company’s achievements and contributions to society.

“We believe that a well-informed public fosters trust, and the media remains a critical stakeholder in shaping narratives that reflect truth, progress, and development.

“In this regard, we are committed to working collaboratively with your organization to ensure accurate and balanced reporting of your activities, while also using this opportunity to better understand your operations, challenges, and future plans.”

Also speaking, Francis Awowole-Browne of the Branding and Communications Department, Dangote Group, Lagos, stressed the importance of sustained engagement between the media and corporate organisations.

He noted that strategic communication plays a vital role in showcasing the positive impact of private sector investments.

Francis called for deeper collaboration to enhance the visibility of Dangote Group’s activities, emphasizing that the company’s investments across various sectors are geared toward improving livelihoods and supporting national development.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Head of Social Performance, Ademola Ojolowo, thanked members of LOYAMP for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit the Ibese plant.

He disclosed that Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant, has continued to prioritize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), expressing confidence that host communities have benefited significantly from its initiatives.

Ojolowo added that the company remains attentive to stakeholders’ concerns and is committed to addressing them promptly, assuring members of the media of sustained efforts toward building stronger relationships.

As part of the engagement, an expert on decarbonisation, Dr. Isaac Ekere, delivered a technical presentation on the cement production process, highlighting evolving strategies for reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices in line with global best standards.

Further discussions at the event underscored the importance of collaboration between the media and industry stakeholders in promoting transparency, sustainable development, and inclusive economic growth.

Participants also highlighted Dangote Cement’s continued commitment to responsible corporate citizenship, community engagement, and innovation-driven industrial operations.

They noted that sustained partnerships between corporate organisations and the media remain critical in ensuring that developmental initiatives are effectively communicated, while also encouraging accountability and community participation in growth-oriented programmes.

The participants, however, urged the company to intensify public education and enlightenment on environmental practices, noting that increased focus on sustainability, local content development, and stakeholder engagement would further position Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant, as a major driver of socio-economic progress in Ogun State and Nigeria.
