With barely months separating Nigeria from what many analysts consider its most consequential electoral cycle since the return to democratic rule, a defining national conversation is set to take centre stage next Sunday, August 9, 2026, to examine whether the country still possesses the political courage to re-invent itself.

The discourse being planned by Boiling Point Arena, a widely acclaimed public affairs programme, is themed: “2027 and Beyond: Is This Nigeria’s Final Window for National Redemption?”

The interview, hosted by a veteran journalist, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, is to be transmitted via Zoom on Sunday at 8pm and also broadcast live on seven partner radio stations across Lagos, Ogun and Delta States to enable millions of listeners to join conversation.

More than another political discussion, the event seeks to move beyond the routine rhetoric of elections and campaign promises to focus on a more fundamental question: What kind of Nigeria should emerge after 2027, and what practical roadmap can make that vision a reality?

This particular 46th edition targets the conversation
beyond personalities and political parties to focus squarely on ideas capable of rebuilding a nation whose immense potential remains largely untapped.

To interrogate these national concerns, Boiling Point Arena has assembled three accomplished personalities whose diverse experiences span governance, electoral administration, media, public policy and international public service.

Leading the panel is Erelu Tunwase Lola Ayonrinde, former Mayor of the London Borough of Wandsworth, whose distinguished career in public administration and community leadership offers a unique comparative perspective on accountable governance, institutional efficiency and citizen participation.

Joining her is celebrated columnist and fearless media intellectual, Dr. Festus Adedayo, whose penetrating analyses of Nigeria’s political landscape have consistently challenged leaders and citizens alike to rethink the country’s democratic journey.

Completing the panel is Prof. Muhammad Kuna, a professor of political sociologist at the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, who parades firsthand involvement in electoral reforms and democratic processes.

Unlike many election-related conversations that focus almost exclusively on political contests, this edition of Boiling Point Arena seeks to address what happens after the ballots are counted.

Among the critical issues expected to dominate the discourse are:
Can Nigeria build stronger institutions instead of depending on strong personalities? What constitutional and electoral reforms should become national priorities after 2027?

Over the years, since the programe debuted in November 2022, Boiling Point Arena has distinguished itself by creating a non-partisan platform where difficult national issues are discussed with honesty, civility and intellectual depth.

From security and governance to education, the economy and social development, the programme has consistently brought together respected voices to interrogate the challenges confronting Nigeria while offering practical solutions.

Its hybrid format, combining Zoom participation, live radio broadcasts and digital streaming, has enabled audiences across Nigeria and the diaspora to participate in conversations that shape public opinion and stimulate policy engagement.

Frontline traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, will herald the discourse with a keynote speech.

Among the partner radio stations are; WASH 94.9FM, Lagos, Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta, Roots 97.1FM, Abeokuta, Erimbe 94.7FM, Shagamu, Women Radio 91.7FM, Mowe, Opera Tune 106.3FM, Abeokuta, and Kruzz 92.9FM, Asaba, Delta State alongside a cable television station, NSTV, on GOtv Channel.
