The pardon granted
Maryam Sanda sentenced to death in 2020 for the culpable homicide of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, has been reversed by President Bola Tinubu.
Consequently, Sanda’s name has been removed from the presidential pardon list.
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement said Tinubu ordered the removal of individuals convicted of severe crimes, including kidnapping, drug offences, human trafficking, fraud and illegal firearms possession or trafficking, from the list.
Similarly, those earlier granted pardon on the old list have had their sentences reduced.
