Nigeria’s celebrated music icon, Onyeka Onwenu, popularly known as the “Elegant Stallion,” will be buried today in Lagos.
She died on July 30, 2024, aged 72, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing at an event organised in honour of Dr Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
According to CKN News, the funeral service, as announced by the family, will take place at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju. This will be followed by a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi, Lagos.
A funeral flyer stated that the Service of Songs is scheduled for 10 -12 noon while the burial holds from 2-4pm.
Onyeka Onwenu was not only a gifted musician with numerous hits but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
The artiste is survived by her two sons.
