Federal Government, on Friday, ordered the immediate closure of the 47 Federal Unity Colleges across the country following a worsening state of security.
The directive was conveyed in a circular issued on Friday, warning of “heightened security risks in several regions.”
The circular stressed the need to safeguard students and staff.
According to the document, the decision received the approval of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
It was signed on the Minister’s behalf by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education.
Principals of the affected schools have been instructed to enforce the closure without delay.
