Suspected Boko Haram, on Christmas eve, detonated an Improvised Explosive Device at a Juma’at Mosque in Gamboru Ward, around the Customs area in the heart of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, killing yet-to-be-ascertained number of worshippers.

The terrorists’ attack occurred on Wednesday while Muslim worshippers were observing the Maghrib prayer.
As of the time of filing this report, information on the incident remained sketchy.
Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, could not immediately confirm the blast.
He said he was on his way to the scene to assess the situation.
The bombing has already created fear among residents, especially within the Christian community preparing for the 2025 Christmas celebration.
Security operatives have cordoned off the area to prevent further casualties and to allow preliminary assessment of the incident.
