Independent National Electoral Commission, on Friday, announced February 20, 2027 for the next Presidential election.
INEC also announced March 6, 2027 for the governorship election.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, announced this at a news conference in Abuja.
Amupitan said the National Assembly elections would also hold on the same date as the presidential election, while governorship, national and state assemblies’ elections will be conducted on March 6, 2027.
The INEC chairman assured that the commission is fully prepared for the exercise.
Amupitan dismissed earlier reports suggesting that INEC had released the timetable for the elections.
The INEC boss said the release of the timetable for the general elections was in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act, 2022, as amended.
