. Pakistani, Moroccan mercenaries captured training Boko Haram, ISWAP fighters
. Army arrests four foreign agents in North-East

In a sobering disclosure that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political and security landscapes, a former senior officer of the Department of State Services (DSS), Dennis Amachree, has warned that foreign intelligence agents have infiltrated Nigeria with an ultimatum to disrupt the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The security alert coincides with a critical announcement from the Nigerian Army confirming the arrest of four Pakistani nationals in the North-East.
The suspects were reportedly acting as arms dealers and tactical trainers for Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The Electoral Threat and Intelligence Infiltration
Speaking on 90MinutesAfrica via Sahara TV, Amachree—who recently authored the memoir DSS @40: My Journey Behind the Shield—cautioned that Nigeria’s historically welcoming posture has birthed a severe gap in public security awareness.
According to Naija Standard newspaper, he revealed that foreign operatives, masked as legitimate businessmen or residents, are actively deploying advanced surveillance gadgets with an ulterior motive tied directly to the nation’s political landscape.
“A lot of foreign agents have entered Nigeria and are taking advantage of the lack of security awareness among the people,” Amachree stated, urging citizens and intelligence networks to remain vigilant as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 polls.
Beyond espionage, Amachree expressed deep concern over the massive influx of weapons intercepted at Nigeria’s borders. He demanded that security agencies aggressively investigate the financiers and intended recipients of these arms caches, warning that they are being amassed to orchestrate electoral chaos.
The Illicit Mining-Terror Complex
Amachree further exposed a sophisticated funding loop linking itinerant foreign nationals, illegal mining, and domestic terrorism. In mineral-rich but loosely regulated states like Zamfara, Nasarawa, and Kaduna, criminal syndicates have taken over ungoverned spaces.
According to the ex-DSS chief, certain foreign operators, particularly Chinese nationals, exploit locals to extract solid minerals. Terror groups and bandits control these extraction zones, using financiers to export the resources and route the proceeds into buying high-grade weaponry.
“They fund their operations through illegal mining and kidnapping,” Amachree asserted, calling for the immediate prosecution of these economic saboteurs.
Military Confirms Capture of Foreign Mercenaries
Validating these systemic fears, the Nigerian Army’s Operation Hadin Kai has launched an aggressive crackdown in the Lake Chad basin.
The Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the four Pakistani trainers alongside a Moroccan ISIS-linked operative apprehended after a failed ISWAP assault in Cross Kauwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Military intelligence indicates these foreign mercenaries have drastically escalated the technical sophistication of the insurgency in the North-East. They are reportedly training local terrorists in:
. Drone operations for surveillance and precision strikes.
. The assembly of high-grade Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
. Advanced ambush designs and synchronized cross-border tactics.
This tactical escalation aligns with recent United Nations assessments warning of an influx of battle-hardened fighters from Asia and the Middle East into West Africa.
In response, the Nigerian military has initiated a massive counterinsurgency reorganization, including the strategic deployment of the Nigerian Army’s 10th Division to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity and ensure a secure path to the 2027 elections.
