From Seyi Tayese, Yenagoa

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Bayelsa Chapter marks the World Renewable Energy Day with a tour of the FUDONS Automobile which is the first Federal Government-licensed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Training Centre in Bayelsa State.

APWEN,Bayelsà led by the Chairman, Engr. Amalate Ann-Jonathan Obuebite, Ph.D, also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s competence in Nigeria’s emerging clean energy sector.

The tour witnessed a comprehensive facility tour and technical session with the FUDONS team delivered an in-depth lecture covering critical aspects of CNG conversion technology, including system components, installation procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance standards.

The session also highlighted entrepreneurship opportunities across the CNG value chain, from conversion services to supply and fleet management.

Engr. Obuebite, in a statement issued after the visit, commended FUDONS Automobile for its warm reception and dedication to knowledge transfer.

“It is industrial visits like this that bridge the gap between theory and practice,” she said.

“The lecture on CNG technology was enlightening and empowering for our members. We are grateful for FUDONS’ commitment to industry growth and capacity building.”

She also applauded APWEN Bayelsa members who participated in the tour, noting that their turnout reflected a strong drive for professional development.

“Your enthusiasm and engagement show that we are ready to lead in Nigeria’s clean energy transition,” Engr. Dr. Obuebite stated.

The Chairman reiterated that the Chapter remains committed to the continuous professional development of its members through strategic industry exposure, technical training, and capacity building.

“This is how we build competence. This is how we take our place. The future of energy is green, and APWEN will be at the forefront,” she added.

The visit aligns with national efforts to promote CNG as a cleaner, cost-effective alternative to petrol under the Presidential CNG Initiative, while also supporting Sustainable Development Goals 5 and 7 on gender equality and affordable clean energy.

FUDONS Automobile, as the pioneer FG-licensed CNG training hub in the state, is positioned to play a key role in equipping technicians and engineers with skills required for Nigeria’s gas-powered transport future.
