From Khalid Idris Doya, Bauchi
Supporters of the senator representing Bauchi South, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, have reaffirmed their loyalty to him, declaring that they are ready to follow him to any political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The supporters stated that they had collectively resolved to urge the Senator to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) and join the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in order to actualise his governorship ambition in Bauchi State.
Speaking during a solidarity rally organised in support of the senator held at Pali suite Bauchi on Saturday, chairman of support group “Mujaddadi Kafar Kafarmu Group”, Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad Modibbo, described Senator Buba as the most competent and suitable aspirant among those seeking the governorship position in Bauchi State.
He recalled that Senator Buba had earlier withdrawn from the APC governorship race over alleged plans to manipulate the party’s primary process through imposition of candidate instead of conducting a free, fair, and transparent election.
According to him, since the senator’s withdrawal from the race, many of his supporters have continued to accuse some APC stakeholders in Bauchi State of allegedly working against his governorship aspiration ahead of the 2027 elections.
Haruna maintained that Senator Buba remains the most credible candidate to govern Bauchi State, citing his contributions to youth empowerment, women support programmes, job creation, education, and healthcare since becoming the senator representing Bauchi South.
He added that the people of the state stand to benefit greatly if Senator Buba eventually emerges as governor in 2027.
The group further pledged to mobilise massive support for the senator across the state to ensure his victory at the polls, while also urging women and youths to sensitise the public on the need to elect a capable and people-oriented leader.
Also speaking, leader of the Mujaddadi Kafar Kafarmu women’s wing, Ummi Aliyu, said members of the group were fully prepared to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of Senator Buba.
She stressed that the time had come for the people to look beyond party affiliations and support a candidate based on competence, credibility, and leadership qualities.
