From Idris Khalid, Bauchi

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, will on Monday, August 10, 2026, commission 15 completed road projects across Bauchi metropolis as part of the Bauchi State government’s sustained infrastructure development drive.

The commissioning ceremony, which is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and residents, will take place at BRC 2, opposite the Police Training School, Bauchi, at 9:00am.

The projects were executed by the Bauchi State Ministry of Works and Transport under the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure, enhance connectivity and ease transportation within the state capital.

The projects are also expected to boost commercial activities and facilitate the movement of people, goods and services across Bauchi metropolis.

Speaking ahead of the commissioning on Saturday, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof Titus Saul Ketkukah, said the completion of the projects demonstrated the commitment of the Bala Mohammed-led administration to providing quality and sustainable infrastructure for the people of the state.

He said the government would continue to prioritise road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance as critical components of its development agenda.

In a statement, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr Mohammed Hamisu Garba, said the ministry had concluded arrangements for the commissioning ceremony.

Garba urged residents, stakeholders and members of the public to attend the event and witness what he described as another significant milestone in the infrastructural development of the state.

He said the commissioning was coming at a time when the state government was intensifying infrastructure interventions across Bauchi, with road development remaining a key component of its urban renewal and socio-economic development agenda.

According to him, the projects would improve mobility, open up communities and create an enabling environment for businesses and other economic activities to thrive.

The Permanent Secretary also urged residents to take ownership of the completed projects by protecting the infrastructure and supporting government efforts to ensure their proper maintenance and sustainable use.
