Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), on Sunday, announced that students enrolled in 36 state-owned tertiary institutions can now apply for student loan effective from Sunday, July 7, 2024. According to NELFUND, the management of the institutions have successfully submitted their student data to the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS). Unknown gunmen on Saturday abducted a chief priestess simply identified as Mrs Kuku and 11 others in Egbo community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. It was learnt that the incident occurred at about 4: pm. A former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Takai Shamang, has been abducted in his hometown, Biniki in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, to account for payments of N729bn to 24.3 million poor Nigerians for six months. The court also ordered Umar-Farouq to provide the list and details of the beneficiaries who received the payments, the number of states covered, and the payments per state.
