Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered a suspected terrorist burial site, along with weapons and a medical facility.

This discovery was made during a clearance operation in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

Counter-insurgency and security expert in Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this on X.

Makama wrote that the discovery was made on March 21 by soldiers of the 68 Battalion during an exploitation patrol in the Duguri area, according to security sources.

The patrol, led by the unit’s Commanding Officer, was part of ongoing efforts to track fleeing insurgents and restrict their movement within the axis.

During the operation, troops reportedly recovered a fabricated mortar tube and identified a burial ground believed to contain the remains of about eight suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

They also located an advanced aid post thought to have been used for treating injured fighters.

Military sources said the findings point to heavy losses suffered by the insurgents in recent confrontations with troops, forcing them to retreat from their positions in the area.

Troops have since intensified patrols and clearance operations across the axis to prevent the regrouping of insurgents and sustain pressure on fleeing elements.
