Forty eight hours after President Bola Tinubu gave security agencies the marching orders to rescue all abducted persons and ensure that no terrorist or bandit camp remained anywhere in Nigeria,
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Shuaibu arrived in Maiduguri at about 11am on Saturday.

Recall that on October 15, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, said Tinubu gave the directive to heads of security agencies during a security meeting he presided at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Musa added that Tinubu directed the service chiefs and other security heads to guarantee a safe environment for Nigerians to vote in the elections scheduled to begin in January 2027
He said, “The directive from the President is: all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those that have been abducted, kidnapped, wherever they are.
“There shouldn’t be any camp of any terrorists or bandits anywhere in Nigeria.”
Although as of the time of this report it had yet to be established whether COAS’ visit was connected to the President’s directive, it was gathered that the army boss would meet with theatre, field and unit commanders across the state.
Details later.
