The epoch-making 15th Postgraduate and doctoral degrees award ceremony of Babcock University Ilishan-Remo, held Tuesday July 21, may have come and gone, but echoes of Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun’s superlative showing, who emerged the best overall graduating student in Economics Department with Masters in Economics, will in a long time to come continue to reverberate in the minds of distinguished dignitaries, home and abroad, who witnessed the groundbreaking event.

Lending credence to Proverbs 22:29, “Show me a man diligent in his work, he shall stand before kings, princes and princesses, not mere men.” Ogun State Federal Commissioner Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Akeem Amosun, the promising icon of politics in Ogun State, who epitomises diligence, ruggedness, resourcefulness, resilience , perseverance, discipline and unflagging brilliance , stood tall like the Rock of Gibraltar among fellow graduands of Babcock’s Master of Science in Economics as the school authorities pronounced him Best Graduating student with the highest cumulative grade point average ( CGPA).

Do great men emerge solely by divine order ? Harry Truman the 33rd American President, sheds light on prerequisite for achieving greatness ” I studied the lives of great men and women who got to the top and I found that the men and women who got to the top were those who did the job they had in hand with everything they had of energy, enthusiasm and hard work”

As an intentional leader , Akeem Amosun who already had in his kitty Masters in Business Administration, obtained at the prestigious Lagos Business School way back 2010 places high premium on quality education, hence his resolve to devote quality time to educational pursuit among other contending engagements. The question many are won’t to ask is , how did this grasroot mobiliser who devotes virtually all his time to politics and politicking juggle time, energy and resources among contending business , politics and academic demands . What magic wand earned him this commendable feat. “

I attended all the classes , I don’t ,for any reason miss class , did all my assignments by myself, not through proxy , couldn’t have been found wanting in paying attention to details. In fact , once I attend classes forget it , I instantly grasp the the topic. So for his Political Academy students at AK City Amosun is an emulatable personage who practices what he preaches . When he charges his followers to pursue education relentlessly and passionately this bookworm sure knows what he is talking. ” If you need to go for conversion from HND to degree ,do not waste time sorting it out . From first degree, go for your masters and if possible top it up with PhD. ” You will always need it in no distant future” Amosun, always persistently urge his cult-like political devotees.

For Akeem Amosun, reward or recognition for hard work is more work, so , there is no room for complacency, hence his resolve to give doctoral degree pursuit a shot.

If award of best graduating student in Economics class did come as a surprise to the array of personalities who watched online and physically Babcock University 15th Postgraduate Convocation ceremony, not many will be taking aback when he bags a doctoral degree.

Akeem Amosun has once again proven he is exploring all opportunities for greatness, making education which the late legendary Prince Bola Ajibola, founder Crescent University and President International Court of Judge, Hague , at the presentation of Law Faculty Building ( donated by A distinguished professor of law and philanthropist Mallam Yussuf Ali to the school, ) described as the first, second and third most important factor for personal and national growth and development.

The never – ending miracles being dished out at AK city, is ,no doubt , a product of the inexhaustible pot of wisdom of a proud alumnus of Great Ife Akeem Akintayo Amosun. Ife is known for learning and culture, so , governor Dapo Abiodun ‘ s charge to the graduands to be of good character in addition to distinguishing themselves in learning is not new to the thoroughbred, unpretentious,. Omoluwabi, Akeem Amosun.. Harvey Firestone , says ” The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership” This has been the major preoccupation of Amosun, a worthy ambassador of Ogun State.
