Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Information and Special Duties, Ini Ememobong, has tendered his resignation letter to Governor Eno Umo after his principal dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Party.
Ememobong announced his decision to resign in a statement on his Facebook account on Friday.
He said his resignation was due to his unwillingness to defect to the APC along with his erstwhile principal, Governor Umo.
He wrote, “Behold another bend. Today, I have tendered my resignation to the Governor in compliance with his directive that his appointees who are unwilling to join him on the political journey to the APC should resign.
“While I cannot question or fault the governor’s personal decision, I am unable to join in that sojourn. My decision is borne out of my belief in politics with principles and my long-standing opposition to that political platform, which is daily validated by numerous Nigerians across many sectors.”
This comes after the Governor, on Friday, officially dumped the PDP for APC.
Governor Eno had earlier had told members of his cabinet not willing to defect with him to the APC to resign their appointments.
