Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has formally joined the Accord Party.

Davido joined the AP in solidarity with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party.
The music star disclosed on his verified X handle on Tuesday, plans to collect his AP membership card in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday.
“I Will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO Tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY 😇 Cc @AAdeleke_01,” the singer wrote.
This is coming barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke officially unveiled the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Adeleke had announced his defection on December 9, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party.
The Governor had explained his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the Accord Party, citing the leadership crisis rocking the PDP at the national level.
“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders,” Adeleke had said.
Adeleke added that the party’s philosophy of welfarism aligned with his administration’s focus on citizens’ welfare.
“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare,” he stated.
The Governor formally announced his resignation from the PDP on December 1, confirming that he had submitted his resignation letter on November 4, 2025, to party officials in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.
Davido had earlier reacted to his uncle’s resignation from the PDP by reposting the announcement on social media with the caption, “Jeje…”
The singer’s planned visit to collect his membership card at the famous Imole House in Osogbo has generated significant buzz on social media, with many political observers noting the growing intersection between entertainment, celebrity influence, and political participation in Nigeria.
