Opposition political figures must look beyond party rivalries and acknowledge the clear achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike had declared.
Speaking at a high-profile political gathering in the nation’s capital, Wike argued that political differences should never blind leaders from making an objective assessment of government policies and national performance.

The FCT Minister made the remarks during the official inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja.
Addressing an influential audience of party leaders, state governors and key political stakeholders, Wike used the platform to challenge the prevailing narratives pushed by critics of the current government.
Despite his prominent role in the current administration, Wike explicitly described himself during the event as a leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He defended his ongoing support for President Tinubu by maintaining that strict political affiliation should not prevent patriotic politicians from acknowledging executive decisions that genuinely benefit the country.
The former Rivers State governor strongly disagreed with opposition narratives portraying the Tinubu administration as lacking direction.
Instead, Wike argued that the President has demonstrated a rare political willingness to confront difficult national problems—issues he noted that previous governments had recognised but ultimately failed to adequately address.
Turning his attention to national security, Wike expressed strong confidence in the administration’s capacity to confront ongoing insecurity across the country.
He specifically highlighted the proposed establishment of state police as a critical reform that he believes could fundamentally strengthen local security management.
The ongoing debate over state policing continues to dominate national discussion, focusing heavily on constitutional safeguards, funding models, accountability, and the future relationship between federal and state authorities.
Beyond defending the presidency, the FCT Minister issued a direct challenge to the newly inaugurated members of the Presidential Campaign Council.
He urged them to demonstrate their actual political influence through measurable results within their respective areas of responsibility, rather than relying solely on the prestige of their appointments or official positions.
According to an official review of the proceedings prepared by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA), Wike’s intervention stood out as one of the most significant moments of the inauguration.
His remarks were a centerpiece of an event that uniquely brought together prominent political figures from different political parties, including Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
For the FORCEPA Media and Publicity Team, the high-level inauguration presented a vital opportunity to document the evolving positions articulated by major political stakeholders on governance, public accountability, security reform, and national development.
In its concluding brief, the Forum maintained that public discussion surrounding government performance must remain informed by verifiable policies, measurable outcomes, and the daily experiences of Nigerians across different sectors.
