‎
‎In a colourful ceremony that drew prominent political and traditional leaders, Honourable Buba Shafani was on Friday, April 10, 2026, turbaned as the Sardauna of Michika Kingdom by His Royal Majesty, Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga, the MbeKa Michika.
‎
‎Honourable Biri Farare, in his remarks at the event, showered praises on the new Sardauna, describing him as “a close associate of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri” who has been instrumental in bringing development to many communities across northern Adamawa State.
‎
‎Farare likened Shafani to “a giant Iroko tree,” stating that he was seen, called, and turbaned to help uphold traditional institutions in the state.
‎
‎He further hailed him as “someone very notable and useful in the society” and a community builder par excellence.
‎
‎The turbaning ceremony, held at the GSS Michika Play Ground, was followed by a grand reception hosted by Honourable Buba Shafani.
‎
‎The well-attended event reflected the high esteem in which Shafani is held across political and traditional circles in Adamawa State.
‎
‎Speakers at the occasion commended Honourable Shafani for his unwavering commitment to service and the progress of his people.
‎
‎One notable message stated: “Your commitment to service and dedication to the progress of your people have earned you this prestigious title. May this new chapter bring greater honour, wisdom, and prosperity to you, your family, and the entire Michika Kingdom.”
‎
‎The occasion was described as “a moment of pride for Michika Kingdom and a testament to a legacy of service, excellence, and leadership.”
‎
‎Many residents of Michika fondly refer to him as “The Helper of Michika” for his quiet but impactful interventions over the years in education, job creation, peace-building, and community empowerment.
‎
‎Honourable Buba Shafani, a successful businessman and philanthropist, is the CEO of Zebra Energy Nigeria Limited and Executive Chairman of Legacy Sugar Company Nigeria Limited. He also holds the title of Sarkin Bariki of Fufore Emirate.
‎
‎His new traditional title is widely viewed as a fitting recognition of his loyalty, generosity, and consistent support for development initiatives, particularly as a close ally of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
‎
‎The grand reception is expected to further strengthen bonds of unity and open fresh avenues for development in Michika Kingdom and beyond. Congratulations continue to pour in for the new Sardauna of Michika, with many describing the honour as a historic milestone for the kingdom.
