President Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, blamed the widespread hunger afflicting Nigerians on his African Democratic Congress rival in next year’s election, Atiku Abubakar and others who previously ran the country’s affairs.
Tinubu, who spoke during the ruling All Progressives Congress presidential rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, accused Atiku of using state resources for his personal advantage.

The President also told Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, that he would not regret his recent political decisions and support for the APC and rainbow coalition family ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu stated that during the heat of the political crisis in the state, he intervened for the governor, commending him for the maturity and respect for elders’ decision.
According to him, “Those people talking of hunger, I am cleaning the mess they created. Atiku was one of them. Ask him how he built a university while in office as Vice President in charge of our economy. Who built the University for him? It is your money!”
On the political crisis in Rivers State, Tinubu said, “Fubara, you will not regret what you have done. During the crisis created by misunderstanding in the family, for me, I intervened on your behalf, I want to thank you specifically for maturity, respect for elders, you respect our positions, you are a committed democrat, you will not regret your actions.”
The remark followed Fubara’s public declaration of support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, during which the governor pledged that Rivers State would deliver three million votes for the President in the 2027 election.
The rally attracted APC leaders, governors, political stakeholders and supporters to Port Harcourt as the party continued its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
