A police inspector attached to the Sokoto State Police Command, Adamu Isah, has died after reportedly collapsing shortly after participating in the command’s weekly fitness exercise.

The deceased inspector was attached to the Department of Operations of the command.

A statement on Thursday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, said Isah collapsed shortly after returning from the weekly Walkathon exercise held at the command headquarters on Wednesday.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors later confirmed him dead.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, expressed sadness over the officer’s sudden death, describing him as a dedicated and gallant policeman who served the country with commitment and professionalism.

Shaffa said Isah was also an active sportsman and a member of the command’s volleyball team, as well as a boxer.

“The Sokoto State Police Command is deeply saddened by the sudden and painful loss of our colleague, Inspector Adamu Isah,” the commissioner said.

He extended condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and colleagues, assuring the family that the command would provide the necessary support.

The commissioner also urged officers and men of the command to remain steadfast and take solace in Isah’s life of service to the nation.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and for God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
