From Khalid Idris Doya, Bauchi
Former National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sadiq Abubakar, has joined Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and is set to contest the Gombe State governorship election on the platform of the party in the 2027 general elections.
It would be recalled that the former APC National Youth Leader announced his resignation from the ruling party last week, citing the economic hardship faced by many Nigerians as a result of some government policies and programmes.
He had explained that his decision to leave the APC was also motivated by the need to secure a free and fair political platform that would enable him to continue serving the people with integrity, fairness, and dedication.
Speaking with journalists in Bauchi yesterday, Abubaay explained that his decision to join the NDC followed extensive consultations with political associates, friends, and family members.
According to him, the Nigeria Democratic Congress remains one of the few political parties built on fairness, justice, and integrity.
“This is a political party where members are treated fairly and equally. It is a party where members’ mandates are not stolen or suppressed in favour of preferred individuals,” he said.
Abubakar added that whichever method the party adopts in selecting candidates, whether through primaries or consensus, would be accepted in good faith by members.
He described the NDC as a party with a clear vision and genuine compassion for the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
“This is a party with a clearer vision and the compassion to uplift the common man,” he added.
