Supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan, under the aegis of Coalition for Jonathan, on Friday, insisted that he will contest the 2027 presidential election.
Convener of the coalition, Dr Tom Ohikere, stated this while appearing on an interview programme on Arise Television.
This is coming 24 hours after the former President said he would embark on consultations over possible participation in the election.
According to Ohikere, “Goodluck Jonathan must not be misunderstood by Nigerians when he said it’s not a computer game to run for presidency. What he was trying to say is that it’s not an easy thing for somebody to just come up and say he wants to contest for presidency.
“A lot is involved. It’s a huge process, a very comprehensive process. So, what I want to say is that Jonathan is set to feature on the 2027 election ballot.
“He has not yet accepted the proposal from the group seeking his return, but in the fullness of time, possibly within the next one or two days, he is expected to make his position known.
“As a member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, I am strongly calling for Jonathan’s return.”
