PPSN holds 49th Annual Conference in Minna

The Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN) has fixed its 49th Annual Conference for Minna, Niger State from Monday, 6th to Friday, October 10, 2025.

The conference, with the theme, “Developments in the Oil and Gas Sector, Its Impact on the Environment and Public Health,” will also feature sub-themes such as “Local Content Development in the Oil and Gas Sector and Its Interaction with Environment and Public Health,” and “Psychosocial Support for Public Health Diseases Sufferers.”

According to the organisers, the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and Newgate University, Minna, will serve as venues for the event.

Keynote speakers listed for the conference include Engineer Simbi Kesiye Wabote, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, and Dr. Sunday Udo, Country Director, Leprosy Mission Nigeria, Abuja.

A breakdown of the conference schedule shows that on Monday, October 6, the arrival of the Conference Management Committee (CMC); Council, Editorial Board and Board of Trustees (BOTs) will take place. On Tuesday, October 7, the Editorial Board meeting, Council meeting, BOT meeting, CMC interaction with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), as well as the arrival of all conference participants and delegates, will be held.

For Wednesday, October 8, activities at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, will include the first technical session, opening ceremony, PPSN debate and cocktail. On Thursday, October 9, at Newgate University, Minna the second technical session, poster viewing, Annual General Business Meeting (AGBM) and the investiture of fellows are scheduled.

The LOC Chairman is Professor Innocent C.J. Omalu, while the Chair of the Conference Management Committee is Professor Mobolanle Oniya FPPSN.

Also listed are Professor Yoila Malann , Zonal Coordinator, North Central; Professor Uwem Ekpo, FPPSN, Editor-in-Chief; and the Host, Professor Sam O. Sam-Wobo, FZSN, FPPSN.

Meanwhile, the organisers have urged participants and delegates to secure accommodation close to the venue, noting that the PPSN 49th Annual Conference, Minna 2025, promises to be highly rewarding.
