Crescent varsity stars bag ICAN certification

Two final-year students of Crescent University Abeokuta, Ibrahim Gafar Olatunji and Rofiat Olaleye have become Associate Chartered Accountants ((ACA) after scaling hurdles of the professional examinations of the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Breaking the news to the university community, the Head of Department, Prof. Tunji Siyanbola said he was happy that the students have made his department and the university proud with their professional and academic achievements.

Stressing that the feat had been achieved by the department of Accounting in the past, Prof. Siyanbola added that ” we are blessed with dedicated and fully committed staff who are always eager to assist all the students both academically and professionally”.

He said the management’s investment in an enabling environment and quality lecturers has produced a consistent students’ achievements.

In an interview, the newest chartered accountants unveiled that their journey to the professional feat took between two and half to three years of rigorous mentoring and study.

In his remarks, Ibrahim Gafar Olatunji, lauded Crescent University lecturers for being thorough with students in the department of accounting.

He said ” their teaching methods were thorough and closely aligned with ICAN syllabus. They not only equipped us with sound academic knowledge but also encouraged us to take professional examinations”.

Also commenting, Rofiat Olaleye attributed the success story to the unwavering efforts of the Crescent University lecturers “for their support especially Scholar Adebayo “who pushed us in 100 level to start the journey and have always been there, forcing us to go for ICAN classes “.

In a related department, the Chief Invigilator of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Abeokuta Centre, Mr Ben Omonayajo praised annual performance of Crescent University students in ATS and professional ICAN examinations.

He gave this commendation during the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) team inspection of Crescent University’s computer-based centre for ICAN professional examinations.
