Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, declared that 2027 will be his last and final attempt to contest the nation’s presidency in his bid to lead Nigeria.

Atiku who was answering a question on whether turning 80 by 2027 would make the stakes higher for him, said it would likely be his last outing.
“Certainly yes, because the stakes are higher and I believe that will be my last outing,” Atiku had said.
African Democratic Congress chieftain said he remains committed to Nigeria but acknowledged that time and political realities would make 2027 his last shot.
The former presidential candidate emphasised the need for unity within the opposition, urging party leaders and stakeholders to put aside personal ambitions and work towards building a formidable coalition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Atiku also expressed concern over the current state of the nation, pointing to economic challenges, insecurity, and governance issues as reasons he believes experienced leadership is urgently needed.
