Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the governorship aspiration of the Ogun All Progressives Congress consensus candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, at the weekend, got a boost as chairmen and members of the African Democratic Congress in Ogun East Senatorial District collapsed their political structures and defected to work for the APC flagbearer in next year’s governorship poll in Ogun State.
Speaking over the weekend during an ongoing interactive session with various groups desirous of working with the APC governorship candidate, the ADC Chairman for Ijebu North-East and the Chairman of all ADC chairmen in Ogun State, Dr. Erinle Opeoluwa, said that the ADC chairmen, having got tired of playing opposition politics that had led them nowhere in over three electoral rounds, they decided to pitch their tents with Senator Adeola.
According to the ADC chairmen, most of them have been made poorer playing opposition politics in Ogun State, a statement by the Media Adviser to Senator Adeola,
High Chief Kayode Odunaro, stated.
The ADC chairmen said they had analysed the circumstances of the race towards Ogun 2027 and came to the conclusion that it would not be right for an Ogun East candidate to succeed the incumbent from the same Ogun East, stressing that they have been witnesses to the massive infrastructural development and empowerment that Senator Adeola has continued to attract to the state even when he’s yet to be elected as the governor.

Other chairmen of the ADC and prominent members of the opposition party that were at the declaration session with a promise for open and celebrated declaration during campaigns included Hon. Kazeem Bolaji Adebanjo, Ijebu North LGA; Hon. Dehinsilu Ayodele Olusegun, Ikenne LGA; Hon, Gbade .A. Oluwasegun, Ijebu Ode; Hon. Shittu Rasaq Titilola, Ijebu East LGA; Omooba Hassan Kazeem, Sagamu LGA; Prince Adegoroye Osubukola, Remo North LGA; Alhaji Salisu Abdulwaheed, Odogbolu LGA; Hon. Ibidunni Fatai Adetola and Hon. Yemi Macauley, both chieftains of ADC from Ijebu Ode.
Hon Macauley said they were further motivated to join Senator Adeola in his governorship bid by their discovery that all their followers and party members were already with Senator Adeola through various support groups and are unwilling to consolidate their support for Senator Yayi.
Other groups that pledged their support during the interactive sessions are the leadership of Market Men and Women of Remoland led by the Iya Oloja General of Remoland, Chief (Mrs) Olasonde Oduwaiye; Miraculous Movement for Yayi , PDP members from Abeokuta North LGA and OGD Coordinators from Ogun East Senatorial District.

Addressing all the groups individually after their declaration of support, Senator Adeola assured them of the being included in his campaign structure adding that his policy of inclusion does not discriminate against any Ogun State indigene that join him in the race for Ogun 2027.
“I want to assure you all that you have made the right decision to join me in this race to make Ogun State better and a model from 2027. You are not joining to work for me but work with me in making our state a better place. I promise you that you will not regret your action and I will not take you for granted ” he stated.
