The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, says he is not desperate to become the President of Nigeria.
Obi, who stated this in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’, insisted that his overriding ambition is to see the country work for the benefit of all citizens.
The NDC presidential flagbearer was speaking about his vision for governance and his commitment to supporting any initiative capable of moving Nigeria forward.
According to the former Anambra state governor, his political aspiration is driven by the desire to fix the country’s challenges rather than a personal quest for power.
“I am not desperate to become President of Nigeria. I am desperate to see Nigeria work. If it is working, I will support whatever makes it work,” Obi said.
He noted that effective leadership should be measured by its ability to improve the lives of Nigerians, restore public confidence in governance and create opportunities for economic growth.
The NDC presidential candidate stressed that national development should take precedence over personal ambition, adding that Nigeria needs leaders who are genuinely committed to solving the country’s problems.
Obi further reiterated his commitment to reforms aimed at improving governance, strengthening public institutions and rebuilding the economy if elected in the 2027 presidential election.
