Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, warned that former Rivers State governor and African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, may find it difficult to campaign in the state.
Wike while responding to a remark by Amaechi’s claim that only thieves could vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027, said that if the former governor continued along that line, Rivers people “will not take it”.

Wike spoke in Abuja after a meeting with chairmen of the six area councils in the FCT.
“If he continues this line, it will be difficult for him to campaign in Rivers. We will not take that. If security agencies and INEC can fold their hands, that’s their business, but we will not allow it,” Wike said.
The FCT Minister described Amaechi’s comments as inappropriate for a politician seeking national office, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to address what he termed inflammatory rhetoric.
Wike insisted that political campaigns should focus on issues rather than personal attacks.
The FCT Minister has repeatedly launched verbal attacks against the ADC vice-presidential candidate since the commencement of the election campaign.
Political watchers have warned that the forthcoming elections in Rivers State could be marred by violence if security agencies fail to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
