The Yayi Scholarship Board says it has received no fewer than 17,495 applications from interested candidates for the current 2025/26 exercise.
The Yayi Scholarship Scheme was instituted by the incumbent Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Senator Yayi by his supporters and admirers.
According to the Board, a breakdown of the applicants shows that “9,850 or 56.3% are female and 7,645 or 43.7% are males. 5,948 or 34% applied for Scholarship and 11,547 or 66% applied for the Bursary Award. A total of 11,722 or 67.7% are new applicants, while 5,650 or 32.3% are existing beneficiaries, an indication that the scheme has gained more popularity among students and earned the trust of the public since its inception with the 2023/2024 exercise.”
A statement signed by the Board Secretary, Ajiroba Dapo Oke, added it is currently verifying the applications as part of the pre-qualification exercise.
It further stated that shortlisted candidates “will subsequently be invited for interview, following which successful candidates will be notified and invited for the awards ceremony.”
