Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is dead.
Ewhrudjakpo, 60, reportedly gave up the ghost after he initially collapsed in his office in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Thursday.
After his collapse, he was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa.
Ewhrudjakpo reportedly slumped in his office at about 1:30 p.m., and was rushed into the hospital’s emergency department, where he was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.
The deputy Governor’s Press Secretary, Doubara Atasi confirmed the development. He however declined to give details.
It was gathered from hospital sources that Ewhrudjakpo died after efforts to revive him in the Intensive Care Unit failed.
Until his untimely death on Thursday afternoon, Ewhrudjakpo had served as the Bayelsa State deputy Governor since 2020.
