Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed displeasure over the protest embarked upon by residents of some communities in Akure North Local Government Area of the state due to the security challenges in the axis.

Aiyedatiwa, ihile admonishing community leaders and traditional rulers to rein in their youths engaging in criminal activities, stressed that such protests could easily be hijacked by hoodlums.
The governor disclosed this while meeting with stakeholders and leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in his office in Akure, the state capital amid the incessant killings and abductions
Residents, particularly youths of Ilu-Abo and other neighbouring communities, had on Tuesday barricaded the busy Akure-Owo highway with the corpse of a middle-aged man killed by suspected kidnappers in the early hours of Tuesday.
The youth, who were infuriated by the spate of insecurity within the axis, accused the government of continued silence over the situation despite repeated calls for intervention.
During the meeting, Aiyedatiwa maintained that the youths had initially agreed to suspend the protest after security agencies intervened, but the demonstration was later taken over by unknown persons.
“That is why we always tell people that protest should not be the first line of action. When you start it, you don’t know who is who,” Aiyedatiwa said.
