Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, landed in Sokoto State ahead of the party’s presidential campaign kick-off scheduled for the party’s state secretariat along Ilorin Road.
Atiku landed at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport at about 1pm on Wednesday in company with members of his campaign team.

He was received by his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi; former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former minister and Kebbi State governorship candidate, Abubakar Malami; Manir Dan’Iya of Sokoto; and other party leaders.
Thousands of party supporters had gathered at the ADC secretariat and adjoining roads leading to the venue to welcome the party’s presidential flagbearer and participate in the campaign event.
Party supporters vowed that the alleged intimidation by the state government would not discourage them from attending the event.
They accused the state government of deploying operatives of the Sokoto Marshal and the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps to block roads leading into the town.
The ADC supporters maintained that they remained determined to participate in the campaign kick-off despite the alleged attempts to frustrate their movement.
