The Ogun State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally kicked off its structural preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The party announced an ambitious grassroots mobilisation target designed to secure victory for its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, alongside its governorship and legislative flagbearers.

In an official statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Adesina Olanrewaju, ADC revealed plans to recruit, train and deploy 20,080 party agents and 200,800 grassroots, ward and polling-unit mobilisers across the state.
This massive human infrastructure deployment aims to guarantee complete electoral coverage and protect the party’s votes at every polling precinct in Ogun State.
Addressing South-West Leadership Friction
The aggressive mobilisation drive comes as a direct response to recent political friction within the zone. The Ogun ADC issued the clarification following media reports that detailed growing disagreements among some South-West party leaders. The report highlighted grievances regarding consultation, inclusion and how established party structures are being utilised in pre-election activities for the presidential campaign.
Seeking to douse tensions among party faithful and stakeholders, the Ogun ADC sued for internal cohesion, describing differences in opinion as normal for any vibrant political organisation.
The ADC statement partly read, “We acknowledge that, as with every political organization, differences in opinions, expectations, and approaches may arise among party stakeholders.
“However, issues relating to consultation, inclusion, coordination, and the recognition of established party structures deserve attention and should be addressed through constructive engagement and the appropriate party channels.”
Ogun ADC further cautioned the public against misinterpreting individual grievances as a widespread rebellion, stressing that individual expressions of dissatisfaction do not represent the officially adopted position of the party or the collective stance of stakeholders across Ogun State and the wider South-West region.
A Unified Front for 2027
Reaffirming its internal stability, the Ogun ADC emphasised that its leadership remains completely unified. The chapter’s current machinery is being spearheaded by the State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Patrick Oluwafemi Soluade; the Chairman of the Elders Forum, Chief Alani Opaleye and the immediate past South-West Chairman, Hon. Razak Eyiowuawi, alongside all 20 local government chairmen across the state.
According to the party, credible electioneering requires deliberate planning and measurable targets rather than mere public declarations.
The target of over 220,000 personnel reflects the sheer scale of the grassroots organisation required to mount a formidable campaign.
“The strength of any political party rests not only on its leadership and candidates but also on the functionality of its structures, the participation of its members, and the effectiveness of the institutions responsible for coordinating its activities,” Olanrewaju stated.
Commitment to Party Hierarchy
While asserting its operational focus, the state chapter pledged its total commitment to constructive dialogue and traditional party hierarchy, promising to discharge its local mandates while maintaining absolute respect for the roles and authority of the ADC’s national and zonal leadership structures.
The party urged its members, supporters, and the general public to disregard divisive speculations and remain actively engaged in building the party’s organisational capacity.
Promising complete transparency in its operations moving forward, the ADC noted that its true strength will be demonstrated by the structures it builds and the measurable progress it delivers as the 2027 election cycle draws closer.
