…pledges more goodies of democracy if elected

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called Yayi, on Monday, kick-started a statewide stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Ewekoro Local Government Area, assuring residents that critical roads and health challenges in the LG will be addressed in the months ahead.

Addressing the gathering including the electorate, Council of Baales, members and leaders of Community Development Committees, artisans, market women and the youths, at the meeting held in Itori town, Adeola said the forum was to get feedback on his representation and interact with the people on areas of need and implementable solutions for Ogun State.

He added that the meeting was also to meet directly with the people at the grassroots and seek their support in his bid to emerge the next governor of the state.

Adeola stated, “You are not only the electorate, you are equally important stakeholders. I am standing before you today to assure you that my administration will deliver goodies of democracy to Ewekoro, if I am given the mandate to govern the state next year. As a senator representing Ogun West, I have already set a standard for myself by facilitating various projects to the Ewekoro Local Government Area. I promise you that if I emerge governor in 2027, I will work for the socioeconomic development of this local government.

“Of course, my various interventions have not totally bridged the infrastructural deficit in Ewekoro, but I am assuring everyone here that as your next governor by the grace of God, my administration will work assiduously to deliver good governance to the people of this important LG.”

The APC governorship hopeful disclosed that over 900 infrastructure projects have been facilitated and completed across Ogun State, including roads, school buildings, ICT centres, health facilities, markets, police stations and solar lights. In Ewekoro specifically, he listed completed projects to include ultra-modern market at Obada-Oko, rehabilitation of Papalanto-Oteyi Road, renovation of Obada-Oko Primary Health Centre, solar borehole and solar lights at Obada Market, while Iyana Complex Junction road, Obada Central Community road, Wasimi ultra-modern market, blocks of 12 classrooms at Government Technical College Ajegunle and Itori Comprehensive High School, and a mini-grid at Obada-Oko General Hospital are ongoing.

Adeola said he was aware of challenges on Old Ilaro Road, Ejio Road, Afowowa-Sogade Road, Pateleri Road and the need for a health centre at Abalabi, assuring that they will be addressed going forward.

While urging the gathering to vote massively for all the candidates of the APC, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the senator representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Salis; Adijat Adeleye, the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency and the House of Assembly candidate for the Ewekoro State Constituency, Biodun Adeleye, he told the gathering that voting for the party all through will expedite socio-economic development of the local government.

According to him, a solid foundation had been laid for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the last three and a half years, noting that he was fully involved in the foundation-laying at the legislative arm.

The Senator listed gains of the reforms to include inflation dropping from 34.8 per cent in 2024 to 14.6 per cent in September 2026, debt service-to-revenue ratio cut from 97 per cent to below 50 per cent, external reserves rising to $58.8 billion in October 2026 from $859 million, clearance of $7 billion forex backlog, payment of N750 billion 17-year pension backlog, and introduction of NELFUND which has benefitted over 1.5 million students with N300 billion.

He added that the administration has disbursed N250,000 each to over 8 million NIN and BVN-verified households totalling N330 billion, created four new Army Divisions, recruited 139,000 Forest Guards, and commenced restructuring through six Development Commissions and State Police with over 30 states acceding to constitutional amendment.

Adeola said Ogun State is a major beneficiary of the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Badagry-Sokoto Super Highway, Sagamu-Benin Expressway reconstruction with solar lights, and the South-West regional headquarters of the National Food Bank under First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative.

He, however, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for completing over 1,700 kilometres of roads, 3,640 housing units, the Gateway International Cargo Airport at Iperu, and the $7 billion MOU for the Gateway Deep Sea Port at Ogun Waterside with inland dry ports at Ijebu-Ode and Abeokuta.

Giving his scorecard in the Senate, Adeola said as Appropriations Chairman and Vice Chairman of National Security and Intelligence, and member of 11 other committees, he sponsored 15 bills and 4 motions, making him one of the top 10 bill sponsors. He said his bill upgrading Federal Polytechnic Ilaro to University of Technology Ilaro has been signed into law, while his ICAN Act amendment bill has passed public hearing.

He also said his Scholarship and Bursary Board has benefitted about 10,000 indigent brilliant students with N100,000 to N200,000 each, while over 20,000 market women and men have received N50,000 to N75,000 cash grants across the state, including beneficiaries from Ewekoro, pledging to expand the scheme.

The APC governorship candidate said he will continue effective representation till May 29, 2027 and will faithfully implement his 9-Pillar ITESIWAJU Agenda if elected, urging residents to continue to support and vote for APC at all levels.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director-General of the Ogun APC Campaign Council, Senator Lekan Mustapha, noted that the meeting was organized to enable the governorship candidate to interact directly with the electorate and key stakeholders in Ewekoro LG.

Welcoming the APC governorship candidate and his entourage to the local government, the council chairman, Sikiru Adesina, said kick-starting the stakeholders meeting from Ewekoro LG was a testament of Senator Adeola’s love for the people of the council.

He applauded the APC governorship candidate for carrying out several interventions in terms of infrastructural projects such as roads, classrooms, markets, solar powered lighting, water borehole among others across the local government.

Among dignitaries and stakeholders of the LGA present were Engr. Noimot Salako- Oyeleye, Ogun State Deputy Governor, Chief Yemi Sanusi, Ogun State APC chairman, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun,APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Senator Lekan Mustapha, Director General, APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu(APC, Ogun Central), Hon.
