Dr Uzor Ngoladi, Secretary General of the Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD), has been honoured with a chieftaincy title by the Ukwuoto Edenu-Ede Oballa Autonomous Community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Ngoladi was conferred with the traditional title of Ogaranya Mmuta by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Prof. Sir Vitalis Chukwuma Onah, KSM, PhD, Eze Oshimiri I of the community, during a colourful ceremony held at the monarch’s palace on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The ceremony coincided with the community’s New Yam Festival and attracted several traditional rulers, academics, top government functionaries, professionals, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the occasion.

The event featured rich displays of Igbo cultural heritage, including traditional dances, cultural performances, and the symbolic cutting of the new yam, which marked the celebration of the harvest season and the community’s cultural traditions.

Speaking during the conferment, Igwe Onah said the chieftaincy title was bestowed on Ngoladi in recognition of his contributions to the growth and development of the South-East geopolitical zone.

The monarch commended the FOSAD Secretary General for his sustained efforts in speaking up for Ndigbo and defending the interests of the Igbo people over the years.

He urged Ngoladi not to relent in his advocacy, encouraging him to sustain his commitment to issues affecting the region and continue contributing to its development.

The monarch’s remarks highlighted the community’s recognition of Ngoladi’s public engagement and his efforts to promote the interests of the South-East.

The New Yam Festival also provided an opportunity for the community to showcase its hospitality and cultural identity. Guests were treated to an assortment of traditional delicacies, including abacha alongside palm wine and kolanuts, reflecting the warmth and customs associated with Nsukka hospitality.

Ngoladi, in his response, expressed profound gratitude to Igwe Onah and the entire Ukwuoto Edenu-Ede Oballa community for finding him worthy of the prestigious traditional honour.

He described the recognition as a significant milestone and reaffirmed his commitment to the development and empowerment of the South-East through FOSAD’s advocacy initiatives.

The academic and public affairs advocate pledged to continue working with fellow scholars, professionals, and other stakeholders to advance the region’s interests, promote sustainable development, and encourage greater attention to the challenges confronting the South-East.

He also expressed appreciation to members of FOSAD who travelled from different locations to attend the ceremony and celebrate with him.

Among those who attended the event was his younger brother, Chief Tobe Ngoladi, who joined other family members, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating the conferment.

The presence of academics and other professionals at the ceremony underscored the significance of the occasion to Ngoladi’s personal and professional networks.

Dr Uzor Ngoladi is the pioneer Secretary General of the Forum of South-East Academic Doctors, an organisation that brings together academics and professionals committed to addressing development challenges in the South-East.

Through his position in FOSAD, he has been involved in advocacy efforts aimed at promoting regional development, infrastructure, economic opportunities, and the welfare of the people of the South-East.

Ngoladi is also a media entrepreneur and publisher of www.dailyblastng.com and www.uzorngoladi.com online platforms covering news, public affairs, education, politics, and other topical issues.

In addition, he serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies at Miva Open University, Abuja.

The conferment of the title of Ogaranya Mmuta adds to Ngoladi’s public recognition and places renewed emphasis on his pledge to continue contributing to the development of the South-East through academic engagement, public discourse, and institutional advocacy.

The ceremony ended on a celebratory note, with cultural performances, traditional hospitality, and expressions of goodwill marking the recognition of the FOSAD Secretary General by the Enugu community.
