Gunmen have reportedly killed a police officer on his way to duty post along the Kwi-Beco road, a community between Riyom and Barikn Ladi local government areas of Plateau State.
Sources said the incident occurred at about 7pm on Thursday.

The development came amid heightened tensions in Mangu, Bokkos and Barikin Ladi LGAs where government recently imposed curfew to douse tensions.
It was gathered that the policeman was riding on a motorcycle to his duty post in the Chit area of Heipang District when the gunmen waylaid and killed him.
Sources said the assailants also made away with the policeman’s motorcycle after the attack.
Spokesman of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident and described it as disturbing.
Tengwong lamented that the killing of a security operative raised serious concerns about the safety of civilians in the affected communities.
He said the group was particularly troubled that security personnel deployed to protect residents were themselves vulnerable to attacks.
The BYM spokesman condemned the killing, calling for urgent measures to address the security challenges confronting communities in the area.
State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alabo Alfred, had yet to issue any statement as of the time of filing this report.
Despite the recent imposition of curfew by the state government, attacks and killings have continued.
