Federal High Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, adjourned to October 26, 2026, for ruling on a no-case submission filed by former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s lawyer in the alleged phone-tapping case.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the case after hearing arguments from the defence on the no-case submission and the counter filed by the Department of State Services.

Counsel to the DSS, Oluwole Aladedoye, had called two witnesses — a DSS operative and a lawyer, Deji Adeyanju — who testified about an alleged admission by El-Rufai in a national television interview concerning the alleged tapping of phone lines belonging to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and an alleged breach of national security.
Earlier, El-Rufai’s lawyer, while adopting the no-case submission, urged the court to hold that the prosecution had failed to establish a case requiring the former Kaduna State governor to enter a defence.
Responding, DSS counsel, Aladedoye, adopted the service’s counter to the no-case submission, urging the court to dismiss the application and order El-Rufai to enter his defence.
Aladedoye argued that the defence had failed to address Exhibit B, which the prosecution said contained El-Rufai’s alleged admission concerning the tapping of Ribadu’s phone.
After hearing both sides, Justice Abdulmalik reserved ruling on the no-case submission for October 26, 2026.
