Governorship candidate of the
All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly called YAYI, on Wednesday, in Abeokuta, called for greater unity, peace and cohesion within the party.

He urged APC members and leaders to strengthen internal democracy and work collectively towards the continued progress of the party.

The APC governorship flagbearer stated this during a meeting with members of the Ogun State Executive Council at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The meeting, which was in continuation of Senator Adeola’s engagement with the party leadership and stakeholders, provided an opportunity for discussions on the need to strengthen the APC in Ogun State, deepen grassroots engagement and foster greater cooperation among its various organs and members.

Yayi, in demonstration of his commitment to the party, also presented a 30-seater bus to the Ogun State chapter of the APC to enhance its mobility and facilitate organisational and mobilisation activities across the state.

The governorship flagbearer in his address to the state executives, stressed the need for peace, mutual respect and unity.

He emphasised that the strength of the APC would be better demonstrated through its ability to accommodate different interests and work together towards common objectives.

Senator Yayi urged party leaders and members to embrace dialogue and consultation in resolving differences, noting that disagreements are part of democratic engagement, warning that it should not be allowed to weaken the party or create divisions among its members.

The governorship hopeful further urged APC members to embrace and properly integrate new leaders and members joining the party from other political parties, describing their arrival as an opportunity to widen the party’s reach and expand its political base.

He enjoined old members to embrace the new entrants without rancour, while encouraging the new members to respect the established structures, leadership and democratic processes of the APC.

He stressed that the APC must remain an inclusive political family where old and new members can work together, leverage on their experiences and pursue shared objectives without unnecessary divisions.

The APC governorship flagbearer further pledged his commitment to supporting internal democracy, inclusiveness, consultation and fairness within the party, stressing that the collective interest of the APC and the people of Ogun State should remain paramount.

Yayi assured the Ogun APC state executive of his readiness to work closely with the party leadership, elected representatives, stakeholders and grassroots members to strengthen the party’s structures and promote effective coordination across the state.

The meeting also witnessed discussions on strategies for improving communication, mobilisation and cooperation among the different levels of the party, with participants emphasising the importance of unity and collective responsibility.

The meeting came to a close with a renewed commitment by APC stakeholders to ensure sustained consultations, cooperation and peaceful coexistence as the APC continues to consolidate its structures across Ogun State.
