Police in Edo have arrested a 23-year-old man, Omokhudu Innocent, over the alleged murder of two children in Ayogwiri-Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was alleged to have lured the children, aged seven and six, into a farm under the pretext of fetching firewood for their grandmother before allegedly killing them.

Innocent reportedly fled the area after the incident but was later arrested by the police.
State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said in a statement on August 31 that the police had received a report concerning the deaths of Praise Aloye, aged seven, and Oshone Ekhaesomhi, aged six, in Ayogwiri community.
She said operatives of the Jattu Division immediately mobilised to the scene, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of the children.
According to her, Innocent was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.
The PPRO said the corpses had been deposited at a morgue for preservation and further examination.
She added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, after which the suspect would be charged to court.
