Federal Capital Territory Police Command, on Monday, assured Abuja residents of their safety and urging them to go about their lawful businesses without fear from any quarters.
The police said it had made all necessary deployments of both material and physical assets to protect them and the city from any security threat.
This assurance followed an online publication making the rounds on social media on the purported influx of some suspected bandits into Abuja, the nation’s capital.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, however said the Command is working assiduously to ensure the safety of all residents and avert any intended attack.
Igweh, in a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, stated that the attention of the FCT Police Command had been drawn to the said online publication.
He appreciated members of the public for their outstanding environmental alertness, advising the general public to always give useful information to the Police, to aid its efforts in the fight against insecurity within the state.
The statement partly read, “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to a publication making the rounds on social media on the alleged entry of some suspected bandits into the Federal Capital Territory.
“Consequent to the above, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, therefore urges residents to go about their lawful business without fear from any quarters, as the command has made all necessary deployments of both material and physical assets, and is working assiduously to ensure the safety of all residents and avert any intended attack within the Nation’s capital.”
