From Khalid Idris Doya, Bauchi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN), on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of 10 trucks of free fertilizer to party members across the state as part of efforts to support farmers, boost agricultural productivity and enhance food production during the 2026 farming season.

The flag-off ceremony, held at the APC State Secretariat in Bauchi, marked the commencement of the distribution, which will cover all the 20 local government areas, 323 wards and polling units across the state.

Speaking at the distribution, M.A Abubakar said the initiative was informed by the fact that agriculture remains the primary source of livelihood for the majority of the state’s population.

He noted that over 70 per cent of the people of Bauchi State depend on farming and stressed the need to provide support that would enable them to maximise the current farming season.

According to him, the fertiliser was provided through the Tinubu/Shettima and M.A/Farouk campaign organisations to assist APC members engaged in farming.

“We embarked on this initiative because we recognise that more than 70 per cent of the people of Bauchi State depend on farming for their livelihood. In support of our farmers, the Tinubu/Shettima and M.A/Farouk campaign organisation has provided these fertilisers to ensure that our party members engaged in agriculture receive the support they need during this farming season,” he said.

Abubakar expressed optimism that the distribution would be transparent and reach all intended beneficiaries across the state, while praying for abundant rainfall and bumper harvests during the season.

He explained that each trailer carries 600 bags of fertiliser, which will be distributed to party leaders, local government party chairmen, ward party chairmen, and members across Bauchi State.

“We pray that the distribution process will be transparent and successful, reaching every intended beneficiary across the state. It is our sincere hope that everyone who receives this support will enjoy a bumper harvest this rainy season,” he added.

He also prayed for Almighty Allah to bless Bauchi State with abundant rainfall, a successful farming season and increased agricultural yields.

Also speaking, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, urged those entrusted with the distribution of the fertilizer to ensure the process is conducted fairly, transparently, and reaches the intended beneficiaries.

Dogara also commended the APC governorship candidate, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar for his commitment in securing the fertilizer support for party members across Bauchi State.

Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, the APC chairman of Karagum local government area, Sani Bala, expressed appreciation to the party’s governorship candidate and other APC leaders for providing agricultural support to members.

He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his continued commitment to the development of Bauchi State.

He also commended the leader of the APC in Bauchi State and Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, for his efforts in attracting support and opportunities for members of the party in the state.
