Friends of Dr. Akpoebi Adesi has announced a plan to celebrate him as he retires from his position as Registrar of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State.
In a statement issued by the committee’s chairman, Godwin Ineye Amazama and made available to our Correspondent via email, the group called on colleagues, business associates, classmates, and well-wishers in and beyond Bayelsa State to attend the event scheduled for May 17, 2026.
The committee urged all invited guests to make the event “memorable” one in recognition of Dr Adesi’s service.
Describing Dr. Adesi as an “exceptional leader and administrator” and a “3-star Registrar,” the committee said his tenure has been marked by support, guidance, and goodwill extended to countless colleagues and associates.
“His impact, though not always loud, has been deeply felt. That is the kind of leadership that deserves not just acknowledgment, but honor,” the statement read.
The committee thanked those who have already committed to the initiative, noting that the celebration is “more than an event” but “a statement of gratitude, unity, and honour for a man whose service has touched many lives.”
The group reiterated its call for colleagues, business associates, classmates, and well-wishers to join in celebrating Dr Adesi in a manner that reflects the depth of his contributions to the university community and beyond.
