From Khalid Idris Doya, Bauchi

The Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAMV), alongside 72 other political and civil society groups, has unanimously declared its support for the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, following his defection to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The group declared its full support during a solidarity rally and the inauguration of state and local government executives held at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi, on Monday.

Speaking at the occasion, the director-general of BAMV, Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, described the governor as a trailblazer whose leadership has left a lasting impact on the state, “Senator Bala Mohammed has come, has seen, and has conquered,” Jibo said.

He noted that the governor’s decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was driven by patriotism, sincerity, and a commitment to sustaining good governance and development in Bauchi State beyond 2027.

“It is important to state that this bold step was not taken lightly. It reflects his political foresight, honesty of purpose, and unwavering desire to advance the interests of Bauchi people,” he added.

Jibo further portrayed the governor as a selfless and people-oriented leader.
“He is a leader, not a ruler; a giver, not a taker; an achiever, not a destroyer. He is a true democrat whose generosity and kindness exceed expectations,” he said.

Jibo likened Bala Mohammed’s leadership qualities to those of notable Nigerian icons such as the Sardauna of Sokoto, Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo, and Aminu Kano.

According to him, the achievements recorded under the governor’s administration over the past seven years across all 20 local government areas are “Immeasurable and unprecedented,” surpassing the combined records of previous administrations over four decades.

BAMV threw its weight behind the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, stating that, “We are convinced that this decision followed extensive consultations and careful assessment. We have full confidence in his capacity to lead us to victory under the APM in the 2027 general elections.”

He also announced plans by the group to embark on a statewide sensitisation campaign to educate citizens on the reasons behind the governor’s defection.

“As we reaffirm our total support, we are committed to mobilising across every corner of Bauchi State to ensure the people understand and support this necessary decision,” Jibo said.

He called on residents to reciprocate the Governor’s service by rallying behind him as he begins a new political journey.

“The time has come for the people of Bauchi to stand with a leader who has consistently demonstrated dedication and commitment to their welfare,” he added.
