Our faith in Nigeria project unwavering – ADP Chairman, Sani

Ben Ogbemudia, Abuja

Action Democratic Party National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Sani, at the weekend renewed the hope in the Nigeria project, saying, “Our belief in this land of our birth is unshakeable.”

Sani also acknowledged that the country has derailed and we all needed to bring it back on track.

The ADP National Chairman, who expressed his concern about the future of Nigeria, spoke on Friday night at the non-elective convention held at the Women Center, Abuja.

He said as Nigerians inch towards 2027, ADP is not going to struggle for power for the sake of it but to bring about the positive elements of politics.

He further said that , from security of lives and properties which is the primary essence of governance to booming economy, to education, science and technology, food security and eventually to industrialization ,ADP shall scientifically, strategically and meticulously through guided planning turn around the fortunes of Nigerians after 2027.

His said, “By the failures of PDP and APC, enough campaign materials are readily available to win the hearts of our people.

“For instance, how else shall Nigerians be convinced that the present administration has no solutions to insecurity when nearly 3000 souls have been killed in the first quarter of this year and nearly the same number have been abducted (See Daily Trust of 21st April 2024). How else will any party convince you that they will provide your children education when during misrule of PDP there were 12 million-out-of-school children which has scaled up to 20 million? Why would you doubt that these 20 million children could be recruited to Boko Haram, ISWAP brigade in the next 15 years? By what means would you stop the separatist agitations when you play politics without justice?

“ADP shall contend in 2027 against import dependent economy, subsistence agriculture, unproductive citizens breeding illiteracy rather than literacy.

” ADP will contend with a government that induces corruption by being unscientific about its stoppage. ADP will severely contend with state capture of power because sovereignty resides with the people in the form of a general will which ought to be the source of the law’s legitimacy according to Rousseau. Indeed, ADP will contend with a scenario where the people are not the ultimate source of political legitimacy – the people’s vote should and must count in 2027.

“Finally, I would wish to use this opportunity to advise INEC to up their game in 2027. It is our great expectations that by 2027, voters should be able to make their choice with a press of the button when INEC would have introduced electronic voting and installed CCTV cameras in our polling units.

“All hands must be on deck whether weak or strong. One concrete advice we needed to give here is that the government should swallow its pride and reverse those policies that are not working. In the alternative, such unworkable policies should be retooled, re-planned and brought back. The bill of palliatives that has no impact is virtually amounting to bill of subsidy payment on petrol or diesel. Our refineries should work and must be humming. Finally, I call on out party members to go home and strategize on how to grow the Party.”
