Flags of the Peoples Democratic Party were on Monday pulled down at the Zamfra State Government House in Gusau, the state capital.
The party’s flags were brought down moments after the Deputy Governor, Malan Mani Mummuni, announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress on behalf of the Zamfara Government.
Mummuni was elected alongside Governor Dauda Lawal on the platform of the PDP in 2023.
Governor Lawal is currently in Saudi Arabia on Lesser Hajj, and handed over to Mumini in acting capacity.
Earlier at the State Executive Council meeting, the Acting Governor announced that PDP Stakeholders in Zamfara had concluded plans to join the APC.
Mummuni is currently in a closed-door meeting with the state House of Assembly members at Government House, Gusau.
When contacted over the defection, Salihu Anka, Director General Media and Communications, Government House, Gusau, disclosed that the entire cabinet of Governor Lawal had defected.
